Bayou City Art Festival
Last weekend our plans got canceled so I decided to check out Jill B. Jarvis.com to see what else may be going on around town. First of all, if you have kids and live anywhere near Houston you need to be following her page. Jill does an amazing job of listing all the major (and minor) events going on every single week in Houston. I loved her site before when it was Big Kid Small City, but when she complimented me on the pictures on this little blog,…

P-6 Farms Fall Festival
Harper’s school had a 4-day weekend for Columbus Day and though Dustin had to work, I was determined to make it a fun staycation for the 3 of us. One of the many things we did was spending a day at P6 Farms in Montgomery, Texas. We’ve been to other farms around Houston, but when I talked to Dustin that night I told him that P6 was my new favorite farm of all, hands down. First of all, I bought the tickets online just before we left the…

Destination: Destin
Since summer is almost over and it’s our last summer before Harper starts kindergarten (I’m only crying a little over here), we planned a last-minute trip to Destin. It also happened to be over my mom’s 60th birthday so I coerced her into tagging along. Then I remembered that my sister, Jackie, was wanting to take her kids somewhere within driving distance, so I invited them too. And then suddenly we had a lot of people. We decided to rent a condo, which, you know, has its pros…

Great Wolf Lodge and Arkansas Road Trip
Dustin had been in training for the majority of the month and he finally had a week off. Before he left for training we kept saying we should do something when he got home but we didn’t start looking until he was back home. Seattle, LA, San Diego and San Fran, New York, Ontario, Orlando, Nassau… everything was so expensive. Everywhere. Guess that’s what happens when you look at flights for tomorrow. So I literally opened the map app on my phone and zoomed out as if I…

Houston Children’s Festival 2018
Over the weekend I got a wild hair and decided I was daring enough to brave the Houston Children’s Festival with both of my children, without my working husband. I took Harper 2 years ago, before Hudson was around, so we kinda knew what to expect from the festival, but when you take an 8 month old out of the house you will never be adequately prepared. I tried to convince my sister (and consequently her husband) to come in hopes that there would be more adults to…

New Orlovirus
Last weekend Dustin had a contract trip to New Orleans and I was off so we decided to make a weekend of it. There wasn’t room in the plane for us, but it’s only a 5-hour drive (give or take) so we decided the kids and I would meet him there. Initially we had a hard time finding an available hotel, but he did finally get a room at The Roosevelt New Orleans. It’s a Waldorf Astoria hotel, which made it super fancy in my book, and it got…
