Color Factory Houston with Kids
If you’ve been following me for any time at all, you know that we make a big deal out of birthdays around here. Last week Harper turned 7 (I’m still wrapping my head around this idea), and we are still partying! One of the BIG ways we were able to celebrate was with a trip to Color Factory Houston! Just in case you live under a rock, interactive art installations are kind of the new thing and Color Factory Houston is the latest and greatest of these limited-engagement…

Making the Most of Your Trip to Candytopia
If you spend any time scrolling through Facebook or Instagram, you’ve seen the ads for Candytopia. This interactive “art installation” where nearly everything is made of candy, is all my childhood fantasies come true. It’s also the latest place to get that perfect selfie. Candytopia has been in Houston for the past few months and as much as the Willy Wonka lover in me neeeeded to go, I had a hard time paying that much for it. Tickets are $28 for an adult and $20 for kids ages…

Driving the Pikes Peak Highway
One of the big things I wanted to do in Colorado with my kids was to ride the Pikes Peak Cog Railroad to the summit of Pikes Peak. Luckily I happened to look it up online because they are currently closed for refurbishment until 2021! I know my kids (and I) would have loved the train, but this time we were driving the Pikes Peak Highway! To be completely honest, I was kind of dreading this drive. Switchbacks tend to make me car sick and I was certain…

Royal Gorge Bridge and Park
One of our last stops before heading home was Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, just outside of Cañon City, Colorado. The Royal Gorge itself is one of those places you see with your eyes but can’t truly comprehend. The magnitude of the chasm and the beauty of the mountains are enough to make the trip worthwhile. But then to walk across this immense suspension bridge spanning the gap is an experience like no other. They are absolutely right when they say Royal Gorge Bridge and Park combines God’s…

Cave of the Winds Mountain Park
A long time ago, in a land far, far away (Manitou Springs, Colorado, to be exact), a bunch of young whippersnappers took a Lantern Tour at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. It was so much fun, you guys. I’d been in other caverns before, but being in one where the only lighting was the lantern in your hand really added to the excitement of a guided tour. Fast forward to last week, and Dustin and I found ourselves with 2 kids, ages 6 and 2, back at…

Santa’s Workshop North Pole Colorado
The last time I visited Santa’s Workshop North Pole near Colorado Springs, was over 25 years ago. The memories of the park itself are vague, but the excitement of celebrating Christmas in Santa’s off-season is still vivid as ever. This year they celebrate 63 years in business, but somehow they are still one of Colorado’s best-kept secrets. Located on Pikes Peak Highway, Santas Workshop North Pole Colorado is the perfect place for family fun and adventure any time of year. A few weeks ago we planned a last-minute…

Houston Axe Throwing
You guys, I am not one to pay much attention to ads. Especially not Facebook ads. But one day I’m just scrolling through my feed, minding everyone else’s business, when I came across an ad for Houston Axe Throwing. Read that again. Axe throwing. In Houston. If it wasn’t obvious after Goat Yoga, I am clearly down for (almost) anything. As much as axe throwing sounded like it was absolutely not my thing, I had to get in on this. First of all, we owe a huge thanks…

Goat Yoga Texas!
Goat Yoga. Yep. It’s a thing. It’s a real thing. I read about it a long time ago in one of those crazy news stories that suck you in when you’re supposed to be doing something important. Basically, these west coast weirdos were doing yoga while some goats ran around. “People are so weird,” was my thought. Didn’t cross my mind again. Then a few weeks ago I happened to be watching another video that was completely unrelated, but mentioned Goat Yoga just to be funny. I decided…

Our First Flytographer Experience
If you know me at all you know I’m kind of obsessed with pictures. Yours, mine, people I don’t know, beautiful, blurry, all of them. I seriously don’t know what it is, but I just love to look at pictures. So when we happen to be doing something fun I kind of go crazy and take a million. While we were in Destin over the summer (read about it here), every day at sunset the beach would be covered with families and photographers. It got me thinking. Why…
